Who we are
The Women’s Motor Racing Associates Club (WMRAC), also known as the Doghouse Owners’ Club, was founded in 1962 to provide friendship and support to women in motorsport https://www.wmrac.com/
For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the UK data protection laws, the data protection controller is the standing Committee of the Women’s Motor Racing Associates Club (the “Club”).
About this document
This privacy notice sets out the way we process your personal data and we’ve created this privacy notice to make sure you are aware of how we use your data as a member of our club, as a guest at club events or as a visitor to our website. This information is provided because Data Protection Law gives individuals rights to understand how their data is used.
All Members of the Women’s Motor Racing Associates Club are all encouraged to read this privacy notice and understand the club’s obligations to its entire community. This privacy notice applies alongside any other information the club may provide about a particular use of personal data, for example when collecting data via a paper form.
Media
In the interest of ‘getting to know’ the human factor of our community, promoting our club and showcasing our remarkable history; photographs may be taken at our social gathering and charity events – these images will be added to the archive of the club. We also invite you to upload a digital photograph of yourself to our club membership portal membermojo for the purpose of identification. Photographs from our archives and more recent events may be shared on our website, through social media channels and other digital communication including advertising material and printed publications.
All media and images (still, moving pictures and audio) including archive images are subject to copyright; however, it must be understood that by using them in the public domain they could potentially be reproduced, altered, or re-used by anyone in the world outside of the club’s control. Any images taken constitute personal data under GDPR and the UK Data Protection Laws and will be stored in the club archive and managed under the terms of this privacy notice. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time my emailing data@wmrac.co.uk but understand that withdrawing consent may not affect any material that may already be in circulation.
Cookies
Your internet browser, and that of our membership portal managed by Membermojo, has the in-built facility for storing small files “cookies” that hold information which allows the website to recognise your account. Our website takes advantage of this facility to enhance your experience. You can prevent your computer from accepting cookies, but if you do, certain functionality on the website may be impaired.

- When you provide information via the club’s Membership portal membermojo (membership management software) through event bookings, or when you interact with us during your time as a member in various other ways (for example as part of our members mailing list or to renew your membership)

How we use personal data
Personal data provided to us will be used for the purposes set out at the time of collection and, where relevant, in accordance with any preferences you express.
More generally, we will use your personal data for the purposes of managing the club, including:
- Administering your club membership
- Taking payment of membership fees.
- Informing you about events, fundraising and social activities.
- Research and statistical analysis about the demographic of our membership.
- Communication about our club activities or information we think may be of interest to you.
In the interest of futureproofing our club, we may share generic data – only where it is necessary and for legitimate reason (for example to increase member benefits or to partner with carefully selected organisations and suppliers).
We will not sell or share your personal data with any other organisation.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Your marketing preferences
We will always respect your wishes in respect of what type of communications you want to receive from us and how you want to receive them. There are some communications that we need to send you regardless of your marketing preferences in order for us to fulfil our contractual obligations to you as a member of the club.
